Regulating stressful feelings

 

There may be times when no matter how hard you try, you still feel overwhelmed with feelings and don’t know what to do. Here are some things you can do:

Activities:

Exercising, walking, running, cleaning or washing up, calling a friend

Feelings:

Try doing something that will create an opposite, positive feeling e.g. watching a comedy

 

 

 

 

Thoughts: 

Try to think of someone who is suffering worse than you are e.g. people in poverty/war which makes your problem seem less significant

Mindfulness: 

It helps to keep your mind focused on yourself in the present moment, so that you are not always worrying about the future or feeling upset about the past. It also helps you to separate yourself from unhelpful thoughts and let them drift through your mind, and remind you that thoughts are not reality.
